Rejoicing in the simple things of Spring!
Hermela got so excited to see the daffodils blooming in our backyard. She headed right out to make sure they had enough water and then again…just to make sure!
Riding a bike is new a endeavor! Hermela wants so badly to ride without training wheels. She’s starting out on brother’s old bike, but I’m sure will be ready for a bigger one without the training wheels, by early summer. Don’t you just love her shirt (with sticker added!)?
Hermela is adjusting well to “family life” as she feels more comfortable and grows to trust us more and more. Her English is improving daily which helps so much for her to be able to express herself. We can still have those challenging days, when feelings get hurt and emotions are running high. Ending the day like this
makes me smile and thank God for family love, in good times and bad! This is one of Hermela’s favorite books! She loves to have you close your eyes and try to find the ant!
It’s always fun to show Hermela our family traditions and to share in her excitement at experiencing another “first.”
A “first” for all of us was making “Resurrection Rolls” Easter morning! Thanks Amy!
We all missed having Abbey home for Easter, but are looking forward to a great summer with her!
Riding the surrey and John Deere at Gramps is always a fun time!
As the month of April concluded and we welcomed May, mom and dad took a trip to CA. Dad had a conference and mom went along to visit with Abbey
and enjoy the California sunshine!
We are so thankful for the wonderful friends and family that helped out with the kids back home. It was great to know they were having such fun time too! I’ll have to post pictures of their “adventures” soon. Aunt T.T. took pictures of Hermela’s first time to the movies, another trip to Build-A-Bear, baking in the kitchen, and other good times.
An adoptive mom that traveled with us to Ethiopia, to bring home her baby girl, lives in CA and was able to meet us for a short visit! What a treat to see Mary and her beautiful children and so great to see her ET babe thriving and happy!
Abbey, mom, and dad took a tour on the Queen Mary,
visited Old Pasadena, with Josh joining us,
AND had a wonderful evening of delicious Ethiopian food and rich fellowship with our new Ethiopian friends! It’s amazing to us how the Lord continues to allow our paths to cross with the beautiful Menna family AND other church leaders. We admire their hospitality and love of Christ!
