12/8/10 2nd day at HH with our daughter!

Although we were quite eager to spend time with Hermela back at Hannah’s Hope, there were a few other stops on our day’s itinerary.  We started the morning off with some shopping while the other couple went to court.  We were able to buy a few more Ethiopian treasures for the kids and for future special days for Hermela.  The group joined us later in the morning and we then went

to an Italian Restaurant/art gallery.  We then headed to Bethsaida Orphanage.  This is a privately run orphanage where many of the children at HH pass through. 

How joyous it must be when we come to the Lord, so craving to be with Him.  That we would come to Him helpless and with nothing but a pure desire to be with Him, seeking the comfort of sitting on His lap…safely cared for by a loving Father.

 

We were told that this room is where the children have to stay when they come from their village as they wait the results of their blood work.  There was a tiny little baby sleeping on the bed!

The kids were so beautiful and so craving attention.  Like all children, they just want to be loved!

Some of the older kids were coming back from a school they attend down the street.  I was impressed that the orphanage workers dressed them in their ET cultural clothing for the day’s celebration.  This was a “Celebrate Ethiopian Culture Day!”

The conditions at this orphanage are certainly not as nice as Hannah’s Hope, but it is still a much more pleasant place than some of the government run orphanages.

We got a kick out of this guy on the top of the bags of lentils!

Before heading to Hannah’s Hope, Wass brought us to the Ethiopian Starbucks, KALDI’S!  This was a treat!  Much cheaper than Starbucks too.

We were really encouraged by Hermela’s reaction when she saw us back at HH.  She came running up to us and gave us a hug! They start their “showering”, which is really a type of “bath” routine at about 3:30 so that all the kids are cleaned up and already in p.j.s for dinner time.  Hermela really enjoyed blowing bubbles and loved showing us how she could write her name.

Our time back at HH was too brief, but we said good bye and left for our hotel, anticipating a longer visit tomorrow!
