The summer continued…

I think I should finish up with some of our 2010 summer happenings before winter kicks in! Our schedule has been so busy with schooling, activities, travel preparations… Maybe the more I blog the easier it will get and therefore less time consuming.  I love digital pictures as long as I can remember where they are on my computer and how to retrieve them! I really look forward to making this blog into a book someday to treasure.                                        As our summer progressed some annual events unfolded. We have many great memories of times picking strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.
Many of the blackberries we picked were in clusters like this one, with only one ripened berry.  This reminded me of the one orphaned child that we may “rescue”, but the many that are left behind in need of someday being “picked.”Actually, I honestly believe that God is the one that chooses each child to be with their forever family and HE is the one that “ripens” ones heart to move forward and reach out to the child in need. With open hands, we need to be available to His calling on our life. 
There will be happy winter days ahead when our family will be very grateful for the frozen blueberries and jam!

Dan was the first to celebrate the berry harvest with his 14th birthday cake!

Our family treasures the times that we are all together.  We enjoyed a hike up Mt. Wachusett, a unique landmark within the central New England landscape. From the summit, a clear day reveals views of Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire, the Berkshires to the west, and the Boston skyline to the east.

Gloucester Massachusetts was the location of my niece Renee and Joe’s July wedding!
We enjoyed a tour of America’s oldest seaport town. The Fisherman’s Statue is a  memorial to all the Gloucester fisherman who have lost their lives out at sea. The inscription on the monument is from Psalm 107: “They that go down to the sea in ships,That do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep.”

  It was great to see our kids having such a fun time with their cousins! Thanks Renee and Joe for a wonderful memory!
Also from Psalm 107,”Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;

   his love endures forever.” I’m so thankful for God’s love and how He has blessed us with the love of a family!
