This year’s annual trip to NC had some extra excitement as Hermela experienced her first time at the BEACH! We arrived at our cottage and the kids were eager for little sis to put her feet in the “big water!” She wasn’t too sure about the waves and sinking sand at first, but quickly realized the fun that could be had. Morning couldn’t come soon enough!
So much fun in the sun!
Once the the kite was untangled…it soared high.
Out in the “BIG waves” proved to be a trust building lesson for Hermela.
She soon was loving the waves crashing down over her head or going under them and holding her breath!
The kids can’t get enough of the water!!
Dan enjoyed working on his surfing skills. He loves to snowboard and skateboard, so he thought he’d give this a try!
The traditional dinner night out at the Marina is always a hit.
Hermela was a trooper, but all this “beaching” was tiring her out! The slap happy mode was kicking in! (Better laughter than tears…) :)
Lots of sand dollars!!! This was our first year we’ve found so many sand dollars at the sandbar. Dad hasn’t found this many since he was a little boy at the same beach.
Our cousins have a cottage across the street on the bay side. The kids love to spend time fishing, crabbing, and clamming or just swimming in the calmer water.
It was fun to see the 4th of July celebration from DC right just days after we were there! (Just for fun…we took this picture on the tv.)
