As they anticipated putting up our Christmas tree, Hermela, Luke, and Dad set up a couple train tracks. They’d have to wait a few of days before putting one around the tree.
As tradition has it, we headed out to cut down our tree; Hermela’s FIRST Christmas tree! Everyone chips in with the cutting, even if they have to kneel in the mud. :) Well, almost everyone! :)
Chocolates of all kinds, are another candy making tradition.
It was finally time to start decorating the tree. The kids get a new ornament every year. To “catch up” Hermela with her ornaments, we each got her one. Now she has one for each year of her life! 
Some added excitement to the holiday season…
August 11th is the big day; our first wedding! We headed out to look at wedding gowns for Abbey.
I CAN’T BELIEVE I JUST TYPED THAT!!
That’s how it has seemed lately. Folks always said that those early years would fly by, and they were right!
So many mixed emotions as we prepare for a wedding!
Each year the kids pick a name and buy a gift for that sibling. I love seeing them hunt for that special gift!
Then to see how excited they are to give their gift on Christmas Eve!
They all get their new ornaments and p.j.s too! The p.j. giving has changed a lot over the years from all of them in sweet little coordinated p.j.s to the boys wanting Nike sweats, Ab and Bek in matching pants, Mario for Luke and cute kitty’s for Hermela!

Just for fun, Aunt T.T.’s gave Luke an “apple notebook!” Luke thought it was funny even though the real thing would have been sweet!! :)

Another treasured time for the month of December was Hermela meeting Great Uncle Gene! He loves to tell stories of his younger years. It was wonderful to spend the day visiting with him.

New Year’s Eve fun!
Bekah got a chance to spend time with Cincinnati Buddy, Liz! They shared so many wonderful times together as the cul-de-sac kids!
Here they are today AND almost 5 years ago!
They’ve both grown so much, but Liz is still taller than Bek! :)
